Theater of Marcellus

13 B. C. E.

The Roman theater is based essentially on the Greek theater plan; see, for example, the theater at Segesta, Sicily. The section with the stage has not survived and the outer walls, originally with ascending semi-circles of seats, have been added on to at the top story. This theater held about 15,000 members in the audience.
