Old England former shops (Musical Instrument Museum since 2000)

Paul Saintenoy

The front facade

This six-story department store is constructed with a cast iron and steel structure which allows for the extensively glazed facade--an advantage in enticing potential shoppers. There is a domed gazebo on the roof and a turret to one side.

The fanciful turret to one side and the projecting bay window

The large oriel (or bay window) projecting from the upper floors seemingly supported by wrought iron oblique columns terminating in figural "capitals"

(Also see above left.)

The entrance

Elegant swirling wrought iron and friezes with tiles
