biography

Adam Schattschneider received his doctorate from Indiana University where he studied with American flutist Carol Wincenc, London Symphony flutist Peter Lloyd, American saxophonist Eugene Rousseau, Paris Conservatory Professor of Saxophone Daniel Deffayet and American clarinet pedagogy specialist Howard Klug.

Schattschneider has performed concerts throughout North America, including Alaska and British Columbia. He is an active chamber, orchestral and church musician, regularly serves as a clinician and adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association, and holds Permanent Professional Teacher Certification in Woodwinds through the Music Teachers National Association. A recipient of the Marcel Mule Award in 1990, he was invited to perform in master classes for American composers Vincent Persichetti, Lukas Foss and Warren Benson.

In 1991 Schattschneider joined the faculty at Bluffton University. In addition to teaching applied woodwinds and music theory, Professor Schattschneider is director of the Bluffton University Artist Series and Jazz Ensemble and has chaired the music department. Dr. Schattschneider's discography includes For the Beauty of the Earth, Broken Boundaries and Soliloquies, recordings which feature solo and chamber works for soprano saxophone, flute and alto saxophone.
